Thank you for considering a volunteer position at the Indy Art Center! We are a non-profit organization that loves our community and has a mission to bring art to ALL. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us work toward our mission every day.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

  • Class and Studio Opportunities: recurring role in any on- or off-site programs
    • Requires application approval and orientation
  • Event & Exhibitions: one-off opportunities for fundraising events, education events, etc.
    • Requires registration through VolunteerHub and liability waiver
  • Gardening in the ArtsPark: select dates by season for maintaining the grounds of the IAC
    • Requires registration through Amilia SmartRec and liability waiver
  • Group & Corporate: one-time specially scheduled opportunities for friends, families, and workgroups
    • Requires reservation with Volunteer Coordinator and liability waivers for all participants
    • Please contact our Volunteer Representative at Volunteer@IndyArtCenter.org to make an arrangement

 

Class and Studio Opportunities

(Vary throughout fall, spring and summer semesters)

The Indy Art Center has the following studios: Clay, Photo + Digital, Drawing, Glass, Jewelry + Metals, Painting, Photo + Digital, Print + Book Arts, Sculpture, Fibers, Wood.

  • Open Studio Monitor:
    • Welcoming, knowledgeable, and experienced volunteers help host our open studios. While these individuals are not expected to teach students new skills, they are present to ensure all individuals are working safely and according to the studio rules.
  • Class Monitor/Assistant:
    • Welcoming, knowledgeable, and experienced volunteers help the teacher facilitate the classroom experience. While these individuals are not expected to teach students new skills, they are present to ensure support at the teacher’s request.

Events and Exhibitions

(Vary throughout the year)

 

  • IAC Ambassador:
    • Represent the Art Center during our exhibition openings and events. Provide directions and information to guests, assist staff with sales of artwork. Assist staff as needed with tasks during events.
  • Event Set-up:
    • Help set up tables, chairs, equipment for event functions. Assist staff with tasks as needed to prepare for events. Lifting, bending, stooping and active movement are required.

 

OneAmerica Financial Broad Ripple Art Fair

May 18 + 19, 2024

OneAmerica Financial Broad Ripple Art Fair could not happen without the help of our wonderful volunteers! Thank you for being part of Indy’s #1 art fair and for helping us transform our grounds into the party that kicks off festival season. We want to make your experience as great as possible.

Gardening in the ArtsPark

(Seasonal, select dates, May-October)

This is an outdoor position working in a variety of weather conditions; please check local weather to dress and prepare accordingly. The dates listed are rain or shine. Depending on the time of the season, you may be helping plant flowers, pulling weeds, picking up litter, etc.
