Glass Art (Ages 10-14)

Summer 26 | June 8, 2026 - June 12, 2026 | Palacios, John

As one of the leading destinations in the Midwest for glass artists, the Indianapolis Art Center is proud to be one of the only places that offers glass classes to youth and teen students. Campers will get hands-on experience in the hot shop, learning about tool use and safety. With daily demonstrations from their teaching artist, campers will see the techniques required to turn molten fire into glass art with temperatures reaching almost 2000 degrees Fahrenheit! Campers will take turns to complete their own glass pieces. Students must have a minimum height of 56 inches to be able to look into the furnace, full vision capability, gripping strength with both hands, and adequate hand-eye coordination. No sandals, shorts, or synthetics. Camper drop-off takes place daily at 10:30 AM at the glass studio doors. All supplies are provided.This class may be eligible for Payment Plan. As one of the leading destinations in the Midwest for glass artists, the Indianapolis Art Center is proud to be one of the only places that offers glass classes to youth and teen students. Campers will get hands-on experience in the hot shop, learning about tool use and safety. With daily demonstrations from their teaching artist, campers will see the techniques required to turn molten fire into glass art with temperatures reaching almost 2000 degrees Fahrenheit! Campers will take turns to complete their own glass pieces. Students must have a minimum height of 56 inches to be able to look into the furnace, full vision capability, gripping strength with both hands, and adequate hand-eye coordination. As one of the leading destinations in the Midwest for glass artists, the Indianapolis Art Center is proud to be one of the only places that offers glass classes to youth and teen students. Campers will get hands-on experience in the hot shop, learning about tool use and safety. With daily demonstrations from their teaching artist, campers will see the techniques required to turn molten fire into glass art with temperatures reaching almost 2000 degrees Fahrenheit! Campers will take turns to complete their own glass pieces. Students must have a minimum height of 56 inches to be able to look into the furnace, full vision capability, gripping strength with both hands, and adequate hand-eye coordination.
