Bodies of Water

Allen Whitehill Clowes Gallery

Bodies of Water explores the tension between solitude and belonging through paintings inspired by Lake Michigan and the Kalamazoo River. Drawing on the navigational phrase “Red Right Return,” the series reflects on departure, connection, and the pull of returning home. Through translucent layers of oil paint, figure, water, light, and atmosphere dissolve into dreamlike forms, evoking memory, sensation, and change.

2nd Annual

Military Community Exhibition

Katharine B. Sutphin Community Gallery + Ruth Lilly Library

The Indy Art Center is proud to present the second annual Military Community Exhibition, a show celebrating the creativity of military-connected artists and the communities that surround them.

This year’s exhibition brings together artists working in a wide range of media, from painting and photography to woodworking, encaustics, fiber arts, and more. Equally varied perspectives match the variety of materials. Some works draw from personal histories and lived experience, including the places, traditions, and perspectives shaped by military culture. Others begin with an idea, a material, or simply the pleasure of making.
